Intel ISEF 2018 Team Profile – Aniruddh Chennapragada – Novel Use of Bio Based Materials in Metal-Air Batteries

Aniruddh successfully prepared activated carbon from banana peel.  His project then went on to characterise the activated carbon synthesised with FT-IR spectroscopy and SEM. Finally, he used his activated banana peels as cathodic material in an aluminium air battery proving it is an effective material for use in battery technology showing that there is great potential for utilising organic waste like banana peels for preparing chemically activated materials that have applications in energy technology.
